The Eastwood Community Garden Needs Your Support!

You may have noticed the beautiful new pathways installed at the Eastwood Community Garden! Not only are they beautiful, but they make the garden wheelchair accessible. This $38,000 project was funded by the City of Syracuse, Eastwood TNT, and ENA.

We’re now looking for the community’s support to put some finishing touches on the project - plants, mulch, trellises, wheelchair accessible raised beds, and an arbor. Please consider donating for a specific item or making a general contribution of any amount you’re able, via the link below.

Another Eastwood Memorial Day Parade in the books

Approximately 500 Eastwood neighbors turned out on Monday, May 26, to enjoy the Eastwood Memorial Day Parade! We’re proud that ENA, with support from the City of Syracuse, is able to keep this beloved neighborhood tradition alive. For ~70 years the parade was run by Eastwood American Legion Post 1276. This was ENA’s first year running the event independently and it really does take a village! We're so grateful for everyone who made this year’s Eastwood Memorial Day Parade possible.

Thank you to Eastwood Baptist Church's Reverend Heidi Butler and Jerry Orton, Onondaga County American Legion historian for speaking. The Pride of Syracuse City Marching Band knocked our socks off! The parade was led by AmL Dunbar Post 1642's color guard looking sharp in their dress uniforms! Dunbar Post and the 174th Attack Wing's Honor Guard participated in our Memorial Day ceremony.

Syracuse Parks & Rec and Eastwood TNT (Liz Hradil) had Greenway Park looking great! City of Syracuse DPW, Police, and the Mayor's office made the parade route run smoothly, along with volunteers from Rotary Club of Eastwood and other Eastwood neighbors. Eastwood TNT (Lisa MacBride-Matthews) and Growing Good Works had the American Flags up along James Street.

American Legion Eastwood Post 1276's Ladies Auxiliary, luv handlz, Blessed Sacrament Elementary School, The Eastwood Refillery, Lincoln Middle School marching band, Eastwood Lions Club, Eastwood Youth Soccer, Tillie's Touch, Syracuse Skate Gang, YWCA of Syracuse, Centro, Syracuse Fire Department, Syracuse Police Department, Museum of Science & Technology - MOST, and more participated in the parade. And Taylor Rental Dewitt NY donated their trailer for ENA's float! Julia Zimmer, Shawna Barager Taylor, and Jessica Taylor did a great job building it! Several Eastwood Neighborhood Association board members and their families handled a myriad of logistics to get people and supplies to the right places. Apologies in advance if we forgot anyone!

19th Annual Eastwood 5-Mile Run

The race is Sunday, October 19. Registration is $35 through August 31! Price increases to $40 after that. As always, we'll need lots of volunteers and will send out more information on that later in the summer.
