Eastwood Neighborhood Association

For almost 20 years, ENA has worked to promote and support our Eastwood neighborhood through social, economic, and civic engagement.

Sunnycrest Movie Night

Join us this Friday, August 4, for the movie “Cars” playing in Sunnycrest Park (Henninger baseball diamonds). Movie starts at dusk. This event, sponsored by ENA and put on by Syracuse Parks & Recreation, is free and open to the public. Keep your fingers crossed for no rain!

Eastwood Market Day

This Saturday, August 5, 9am-3pm at the corner of James & Grant across from Walgreens. Lots of free parking across the street. This market offers original artwork, beautiful vintage/antique goods, quality arts & crafts, fun repurposed goods, garage sale items, and so much more. We currently have over 40 vendors registered!

It’s not too late to register to be a vendor at eastwoodneighbor.com/marketday

Eastwood neighbors are also planning numerous garage sales throughout the neighborhood on Aug 5, so it’s sure to be a day packed with lots of fun thrifting!

ENA Annual Meeting & 20th Anniversary!

All ENA Members are invited to our Annual Meeting, Monday, October 30 at the Palace Theater on James Street. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Program starts at 7:00.

At the annual meeting, ENA Members vote for the winners of the Curb Appeal contest and elect the board of directors. The board reports to you on the past year’s programming, upcoming events, and ENA’s finances. Not a member yet and want to vote? Join today!

Guest Speakers Beth Crawford & David Rudd will speak on the Arts & Crafts movement’s deep roots in Central New York and its influence on the development of Eastwood, where Gustav Stickley’s first furniture factory was located. Beth Crawford is the lead designer on the ongoing restoration of Gustav Stickley’s house here in Syracuse (widely believed to be the first Arts & Crafts interior built in the U.S.) and a longtime Eastwood resident. David Rudd has owned and operated Dalton’s American Decorative Arts in Eastwood since 1980 and is a nationally respected expert on the history of Stickley and the Arts & Crafts movement.

Tai Chi at the Community Garden

Join us for Tai Chi at the Eastwood Community Garden led by Paula Pacini. Three more classes: 7-8 PM on August 7, 21, and 28 (no class on 8/14, but we’ve added two sessions to make up for this and a rain-cancellation made in July) at the Eastwood Community Garden (at the corner of Sunnycrest and Mosley).

Suggested $5 donation per class (can take cash, check, Venmo @ENASyracuse, or you can donate via our website). No pre-registration required.

17th Annual Eastwood Five-Mile Run

Presented by Skinner & Associates Realty

Sunday, October 22. Race starts at 10:00 AM

Registration is only $30 before Sept 1! Find more info at www.eastwoodrun.com

Please consider volunteering to help make the Eastwood 5 Mile Run a success! Sign up and learn more here.

Our greatest need is for corner monitors! The race is on an open course meaning it isn’t fully closed to vehicle traffic during the race. Corner monitors are assigned to an intersection on the course to help direct runners and traffic. This is crucial to providing a safe and enjoyable experience to all the runners that visit our neighborhood. With over 60 intersections on the course, we need lots of neighbors to help out with this task.

Other volunteer tasks include:

  • Packet pick-up on Saturday before the race

  • Set-up on Saturday before the race

  • Registration / packet pick-up on race day

  • Parking attendant

  • Bicyclists (to travel with runners)

  • Post-race refreshments

  • Water stations

  • Water and medals at finish line

  • Clean up

Second Saturday Skateboard Sessions

We’re collaborating with Syracuse Parks & Rec to offer skateboard workshops for kids 8-13. Two more workshops left:

  • 9-11 AM Saturday, August 12

  • 9-11 AM Saturday, September 9

If you have a kid between 8 and 13 who wants to learn to skateboard or improve their skills, drop in at the East Woods Skate Plaza behind Huntington Elementary on the second Saturday of each month. Bring your own helmet and pads.

Walk Eastwood Challenge

THERE IS STILL TIME to start and finish the challenge by Oct 22!

Eastwood is Syracuse’s most walkable neighborhood. To prove it, we’re walking all 99 streets, 43 miles of roads, this summer. And we’re challenging our neighbors to get out and walk every street in Eastwood with us starting April 1. Come join us and get to know Eastwood! Learn more at eastwoodneighbor.com/walk.

Finish by the 17th Annual Eastwood Five-Mile Race to earn your Walk Eastwood Challenge t-shirt!

There are just over 43 miles of roads in Eastwood, a neighborhood encompassing just under 2 square miles. Eastwood contains over 4,500 homes and six official Parks. Yes, this walking challenge is partly about fitness and health, but even more it’s about getting outside, meeting each other, and getting to know the whole neighborhood - even parts you’ve never visited before. Encourage your friends and neighbors to join you and as you walk tag us on Facebook and Instagram and use #WalkEastwood.

We are LOVING the pics that our neighbors have shared so far.

When you’ve finished, email your name, how you tracked your walks, and shirt size to walk@eastwoodneighbor.com.

Business Memberships

We are looking to connect and collaborate with Eastwood businesses. If you’re interested in becoming a business member of the Eastwood Neighborhood Association or if you already are and need a new window sticker like the one pictured here, please contact us at info@eastwoodneighbor.com.

Don’t forget you can find upcoming ENA events on our website!
