ENA Annual Appeal

Dear Subscriber First Name,

We usually send this letter at the end of November, but, frankly, we’ve been hibernating. However, spring is right around the corner and we’re gearing up for another year of great ENA programming!

ENA is a membership organization with nearly 1,000 members who elect the all-volunteer board of directors. I encourage you to review our Annual Report online.

What has ENA been up to over the past year?

About 60 members attended our ENA Annual Meeting in October and elected three new individuals to our board of directors.
Earth Day Neighborhood Cleanup
Eastwood Memorial Day Parade. We were able to donate $250 to the Pride of Syracuse Marching Band Boosters as a thank you for their performing in the parade.
3rd Annual Eastwood Home Tour
Over 50 vendors showcased their wares at Eastwood Market Day in August.
19th Annual Eastwood Five-Mile Run presented by Eastwood Home. Thank you to Race Director Meghan Vitale and Volunteer Coordinator Vanessa Miller for all their hard work – as well as our sponsors and the ~70 day-of volunteers who make this event possible.
Community Scholarships. The Aaron Wood Memorial Scholarship was awarded to the Henninger H.S. Cross Country team to support their fall 2025 trip to the Manhattan College Cross Country Invitational. The Tom White Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Alec Kinne and the Margaret McVicker Memorial Scholarship was awarded to David Miller.
The Eastwood Community Garden continues to offer educational workshops at Paine Branch Library. We completed a ~$37,000 project installing wheelchair accessible pathways all around the garden and will add accessible raised garden beds (with a grant from the Syracuse Parks Conservancy) this spring. Thank you to Councilor Jimmy Monto for securing $25,000 in the City budget for this project and for support from Eastwood TNT. Ally Walker also added a beautiful mural funded by Eastwood TNT to the garden shed! And Advocates grew beautiful cut flowers to share with the community.
ENA offered two series of aerobic classes in 2025 and our next series starts March 9!

None of this can accomplished without you, our members, our donors, and volunteers. In lieu of annual membership dues, we ask ENA members to make an annual donation to make this great programming possible. Please consider making a donation to support ENA. You can mail in a check payable to the Eastwood Neighborhood Association to ENA; PO Box 66; Syracuse NY 13206 or you can donate online here.

Gentle Cardio, Strength & Balance

A moderate aerobics class. Certified Instructor: Paula Pacini

March 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th April 13th, 20th 27th, May 11th (skipping April 6th and May 4th)

Mondays at 5:15 PM; Each class is 50-60 minutes

Bring light weights if you have them and bring your own water.

Eastwood Baptist Church, Titus Hall, 3212 James St.. (Homecroft Rd. side entrance)

Cost (for the whole 8-week series): $20 for ENA members. $30 for non-members includes registration and individual lifetime membership.

Mark your calendars for the Eastwood Memorial Day Parade: Mon., May 25

Parade starts at 9:00 AM at the corner of Nichols and James Street and ends at Greenway Veterans' Memorial Park (2309 James St) with a Veterans' Memorial Ceremony. Bring your lawn chairs and set up anywhere along James Street to enjoy the parade!

If you have a group that would like to walk in, drive in, or build a float for the parade, sign up below!

Closer to the event, we’ll also recruit volunteers to help manage traffic.
