Suggested $5 donation per class (can take cash, check, Venmo @ENASyracuse, or you can donate via our website). No pre-registration required.

Outdoor Movie Night

Mark your calendars for Friday, August 4 for the movie “Cars” playing in Sunnycrest Park (Henninger baseball diamonds). Movie starts at dusk. This event, sponsored by ENA and put on by Syracuse Parks & Recreation, is free and open to the public.

Return of Curb Appeal

It’s back! Curb Appeal is a friendly contest to acknowledge and celebrate neighbors who put extra effort into their homes, both large and small. 

Nominate your neighbors by August 1, 2023. ENA members will vote for winners at the ENA Annual Meeting in late-October. There will be one winner per "quadrant" of Eastwood (quadrants defined by James and Midler) and a winner for best “multi-family” (2+ units).

Board Nominations

ENA is an all volunteer organization and members of ENA’s board of directors volunteer their time and expertise to help keep Eastwood a great place to live, work, and play. If you’re interested in serving on the board, or know someone who fits the bill, please email a brief statement outlining any connections to Eastwood and any skills and/or interests to info@eastwoodneighbor.com no later than August 1. All candidates will be reviewed by ENA’s Nominations Committee who will nominate a slate of board members for election by ENA members at our annual meeting this October.

Eastwood Market Day looking for vendors

Saturday, August 5, 9am-3pm at the corner of James & Grant at Eastwood Road across from Walgreens. This market offers original artwork, beautiful vintage/antique goods, quality arts & crafts, fun repurposed goods, garage sale items and so much more! Great food vendors! ENA Community Scholarships

ENA offers three annual scholarships honoring Tom White, Margaret McVicker, and Aaron Wood, which you can learn more about on our website. Proceeds from the annual Eastwood Five Mile Run fund the scholarship program.

Awards were made this year to graduating high school seniors who live in the Eastwood neighborhood. The Tom White Memorial Scholarship ($1,000) was awarded to Luke DeLorenzo. Runners up, Hannah Kinne and Brendan O’Brien, were awarded $500 each. Our first annual scholarship in memory of past ENA President Aaron Wood, in the amount of $1,000, was awarded to the Henninger High School Cross Country team to support their trip to the fall 2023 Manhattan College Cross Country Invitational.

A Successful Eastwood Home & Garden Tour

On Saturday, June 24, ENA hosted our first-ever Eastwood Home & Garden Tour presented by Sarah Barrows, Keller Williams Realty, and sold over 200 tickets! Tour goers were able to visit five Eastwood homes and gardens and hear the homeowners’ stories of how they have restored or transformed their homes and yards. The tour raised over $2,300 to support Eastwood beautification projects such as flags for James Street, planters, and plants. It takes a big team to put together an event like this and we want to thank:

• Our event sponsor, Sarah Barrows,

• Nav’s Popcorn for letting us set up shop in their store for day-of ticket sales,

• the following homeowners for the time and effort the put into opening their homes to the community: Lisa and Tom Matthews, Steve and Katrina Skinner, Liz Hradil, Kevin Cornwell and Jennifer Lagoy, and Trevor and Paula Marsteller,

• SyracuseHistory for helping promote the event and research the houses, and

• the many volunteers who made the event possible.

It was a great opportunity to show off the beauty of Eastwood. The tour was attended by many existing Eastwood residents, many who were new to the neighborhood, and quite a few former residents coming back to see how it looks today. Despite the rain, tour attendees gave the event rave reviews. We had so much fun we can’t wait until next year’s tour! Below are some photos taken by tour attendees.

Second Saturday Skateboard Sessions

We’re collaborating with Syracuse Parks & Rec to offer skateboard workshops for kids 8-13. The next workshop is this Saturday, July 10, at 9:00 AM.

If you have a kid between 8 and 13 who wants to learn to skateboard or improve their skills, drop in at the East Woods Skate Plaza behind Huntington Elementary between 9:00 and 11:00 on the second Saturday of each month between now and September. Bring your own helmet and pads.

Walk Eastwood Challenge

THERE IS STILL TIME to finish by October 22!

Eastwood is Syracuse’s most walkable neighborhood. To prove it, we’re walking all 99 streets, 43 miles of roads, this summer. There are just over 43 miles of roads in Eastwood, a neighborhood encompassing just under 2 square miles. Eastwood contains over 4,500 homes and six official Parks. Yes, this walking challenge is partly about fitness and health, but even more it’s about getting outside, meeting each other, and getting to know the whole neighborhood - even parts you’ve never visited before. Encourage your friends and neighbors to join you and as you walk tag us on Facebook and Instagram and use #WalkEastwood.
