17th Annual Eastwood Five-Mile Run

Presented by Skinner & Associates Realty

Sunday, October 22. Race starts at 10:00 AM

Find more info at www.eastwoodrun.com

Please consider volunteering to help make the Eastwood 5 Mile Run a success! Sign up and learn more here.

Our greatest need is for corner monitors! The race is on an open course meaning it isn’t fully closed to vehicle traffic during the race. Corner monitors are assigned to an intersection on the course to help direct runners and traffic. This is crucial to providing a safe and enjoyable experience to all the runners that visit our neighborhood. With over 60 intersections on the course, we need lots of neighbors to help out with this task.

Other volunteer tasks include:

  • Packet pick-up on Saturday before the race

  • Set-up on Saturday before the race

  • Registration / packet pick-up on race day

  • Parking attendant

  • Bicyclists (to travel with runners)

  • Post-race refreshments

  • Water stations

  • Water and medals at finish line

  • Clean up

If your business is interested in donating refreshments or raffle prizes for the runners, please contact info@eastwoodrun.com.

Thank you to Nav’s Popcorn, Cracked Bean Roastery & Cafe, The Curd Nerd, Russo Produce, and Dunkin Donuts for donating refreshments!

Thank you to Cazenovia Equipment Company for sponsoring this year’s medals and to Fifth District Common Councilor Jimmy Monto for sponsoring the race bibs.

Second Saturday Skateboard Sessions

We’re collaborating with Syracuse Parks & Rec to offer skateboard workshops for kids 8-13. One more workshop left 9-11 AM Saturday, September 9.

If you have a kid between 8 and 13 who wants to learn to skateboard or improve their skills, drop in at the East Woods Skate Plaza behind Huntington Elementary on the second Saturday of each month. Bring your own helmet and pads.

Walk Eastwood Challenge

THERE IS STILL TIME to finish the challenge by Oct 22!

Eastwood is Syracuse’s most walkable neighborhood. To prove it, we’re walking all 99 streets, 43 miles of roads, this summer. And we’re challenging our neighbors to get out and walk every street in Eastwood with us starting April 1. Come join us and get to know Eastwood! Learn more at eastwoodneighbor.com/walk.

Finish by the 17th Annual Eastwood Five-Mile Race to earn your Walk Eastwood Challenge t-shirt!

There are just over 43 miles of roads in Eastwood, a neighborhood encompassing just under 2 square miles. Eastwood contains over 4,500 homes and six official Parks. Yes, this walking challenge is partly about fitness and health, but even more it’s about getting outside, meeting each other, and getting to know the whole neighborhood - even parts you’ve never visited before. Encourage your friends and neighbors to join you and as you walk tag us on Facebook and Instagram and use #WalkEastwood.

We are LOVING the pics that our neighbors have shared so far.

When you’ve finished, email your name, how you tracked your walks, and shirt size to walk@eastwoodneighbor.com.

Business Memberships
